All pets that enter Australia are subject to a strict set of rules. Here is a brief outline of the requirements:

• Microchip
• Rabies vaccination
• Blood test for rabies antibodies
• General Vaccinations
• Additional blood tests for dogs
• Import Permit and quarantine reservation

One hundred and eighty (180) days must elapse from the date that the blood is sampled for the test (with a "passing" result) before your pet can be released from quarantine in Australia.

Your pet must remain in the country of export for at least 60 days from the date of the blood test and must spend a minimum of 30 days quarantine in Australia. The remaining 90 days must be spent in the country of export or added to the Australian quarantine period.

• Make sure that all paperwork and vet work is correct
• Obtain an Import Permit
• Book the quarantine facility
• Complete final veterinary certificates and get them endorsed by the USDA
• Flea and tick treatment
• Crate sealing
• Flight booking
• Have the quarantine station meet your pet upon arrival
• Deliver your pet to you after the 30 days of quarantine, if needed

Most of the pet owners whose pets we ship are already in Australia, as their pet awaits the end of the waiting period. Starwood will ship your pet safely door to door; you don't need to return to your original home to pick up your pet!

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that Kira and Warf are now out of quarantine and starting to enjoy their new lives in Sydney.

Their stay with AQIS seemed good and the staff there was helpful and kind. Both cats were very relaxed the entire time and enjoyed their periodic visits from friends and family. They are amusingly still a little disoriented in their new home as it is substantially larger that the 1 bedroom NYC apartment they have been resident in for the last 4 years and thus go walk-about and get lost every now and then but all in all a very successful relocation exercise!

So thank you to you, your team and your associates in LA and OZ, for everything and making this part of our relocation worry free. Take care and all the best.

Thanks for the call this morning. I was a little nervous for Nugget but know that she is in good hands. The lady who greeted her this morning was really good and Nugget ran up to her and immediately rolled on her back for a tummy rub. After that she eagerly jumped into the back of the van and they took off. I gave originals of all the paperwork I had so I know Nugget is ok paperwork wise.

To all of my wonderful caregivers and fans around the world (!), I wanted to let you know I came home today to my new home in Neutral Bay. I meowed half the way home and have been talking pretty consistently since I stepped out of my carrier. I am so happy to be with my family and am a little overwhelmed by my new digs. I can't quite figure out if this is for real or not, but sure am hoping it is! Once I get it all snooped out I am sure I will find a nice place to snuggle and get really settled in. I can't believe how far I have traveled – it is pretty amazing, particularly for a 21 year old cat. Guess I'm a pretty tough old guy! My dad took a picture of my mom (or "mum" as they say over here) holding me soon after we got home. There is also one just of me. Both are attached. I think you'll agree, I've still got those charming good looks you likely remember (I really like the picture of me in profile!)! I couldn't have made this trip without all of you! You all looked after me with so much love and care, it will forever warm our hearts and bring smiles to our faces. We can't say "thank you" enough.
